Official checkout date and instructions (for all residents who are not graduating)
Monday, May 4th - Friday, May 8th is finals week. Residents are expected to move out of their space within 24 hours of their last final exam. For students who have a final exam on May 8th, the last day to complete your move out process is Saturday, May 9th by 12pm.
All non graduating students must officially be checked out 24 hours after their last final or by Saturday, May 9th at 12pm unless...
- You are a graduating resident or on a list of approved students identified as assisting with commencement ceremonies, or
- You will be transitioning directly into your summer housing assignment on Friday, May 15th (requires summer housing application), or
- You have an approved extension for another reason
All graduating seniors will follow the checkout schedule below
- Must officially check out no later than Friday, May 15th at 1pm
- Graduating residents are required to move out prior to commencement on Saturday, May 16th, Please note that campus roadways will be closed on commencement day to accommodate shuttle operations, and move-out will not be permitted. All belongings must be removed from your residence by 1pm on Friday, May 15th.
Move-Out Instructions:
- Empty your room/apartment of all personal belongings, including all trash
- Follow the steps outlined on the check-out checklist, which can be found
- Return your room/apartment key to the locked dropbox for your building
- Find key box (boxes can be found in the entrances of all residential buildings and outside of 2nd floor BLC Student Affairs Suite)
- Detailed closing instructions can be found on our website
- You will also have a MANDATORY floor meeting with your RA in which all of this information will be discussed in detail.

Checkout Extension Requests
Checkout extension requests must be submitted by Sunday, April 26th at 11:59pm. Requests submitted after this date may not be approved. Approved requests submitted after April 26th will incur a $200 late fee. Residential Education and University Housing will respond to your request via your Rider email address. Checkout extension requests should be limited to only very extenuating circumstances, which still may not be possible to accommodate. You should plan to vacate your spring assignment by the closing dates posted above. Instructions on how to request an extension are below.
Please note that it may not be possible to approve all extension requests based on the location of your spring housing assignment and the operational need to have the buildings vacant by the posted closing date.
If you fall into one or more of the below categories, a checkout extension will automatically be noted and approved by our office so you should not submit a request to stay later. The advisor or coordinator of your program will provide our office with the approved list of students and our office will automatically approve your extension. You will be sent a notification via email the week of April 27th stating the date you are approved to remain on campus. If you have a question or concern once this email comes out please email reslife@rider.edu.
Groups that will be approved and do not need to submit a checkout extension via StarRez:

- Mens Indoor/Outdoor Track
- Men's Cross Country
- Womens Indoor/Outdoor Track
- Women's Cross Country
- Softball
- Graduating Seniors (including those who are walking)
- RAs
- MCCC students
- Summer School (Session I)
- Westminster Choir College
For students that do not fall into one of the above categories but would like to request an extension, please follow the below instructions:
To submit a check-out extension:
- Log into the 91做厙 Housing Portal.
- From the home page, click on the Break Housing icon.
- Select End of Spring Checkout Extension.
- Complete the form in its entirety and submit.
- You will receive a confirmation email once your request has been successfully submitted.
Meal Plans
The last day to use your meal swipes and Bronc Bucks associated with your meal plan is May 8th at the below venues during the times stated. Any Bronc Bucks that remain on your account after this date will be forfeited.

- Starting Monday, 5/18 Starbucks will be open Monday through Thursday 8:15am-2pm.
Full-time matriculated 91做厙 students are eligible for summer housing. Students must be enrolled in Summer 2026 or Fall 2026 courses, or employed on campus or locally. Housing is not available for high school or other visiting students.
Summer I
Move in: Friday, May 15th 9a.m.1p.m.
Move out: Thursday, July 2nd 9a.m.1p.m.
Summer II
Move in: Sunday, July 5th 9a.m.1p.m.
Move out: Wednesday, August 19th 9a.m.1p.m.
Summer housing applications will be available via your myRider portal beginning Monday, March 30th. If you have questions regarding summer housing, please contact the Residential Education and University Housing Office, at 609-896-5102 or reslife@rider.edu.
How to submit your Summer 2026 Housing Application:
- Log into the 91做厙 Housing Portal
- Navigate to the Applications tab
- Select Summer 2026
- Review and complete all sections of the application.
Summer 2026 Roommate Matching (Ends April 17):
- Once you have completed your initial application, navigate to the Specialty Housing & Other Processes tab.
- Select Roommate Matching
- Create or join a roommate group with other Summer 2026 applicants.

Additional Important Information:
- Students residing in summer housing for the full summer housing term (May 15 August 19) will be billed the total program cost listed above.
- Students may alternatively select custom move-in and move-out dates within the summer housing period to align with the academic calendar. In those cases, charges will be prorated at the nightly rate.
End of Summer Housing
- The Summer Housing Program ends on August 19th. All students with a summer housing assignment must move out of their summer assignment no later than August 19th at 1 PM.
- On August 19th summer residents will be informed from Residential Education and University Housing that they fall into one of two categories:
- They must transition directly to their Fall housing assignment or
- They must move out and return on the day, September 8th.
- If a student moves into their fall housing assignment on August 19th, they will be charged a flat rate of $600
- Students who do not vacate their summer housing assignment by August 19th (unless a room readiness conflict is communicated by REUH or the student has an approved checkout extension) will incur a $250 charge to their student account.
Disability Accommodations
Students requiring disability-related accommodations affecting their housing must apply and submit supporting documentation to Student Accessibility and Support Services (SASS) before the preferred deadline of April 10th. 涌ailure to meet this deadline may limit the ability of the University to reserve housing space meeting their needs.
